Movie Mini-Review Funtime!
In the past several days since my last update, I’ve seen some movies. Here now I represent mini-reviews of two of them.
War of the Worlds
Its actually kind of rare that a movie is this full of plotholes. The more and more you think about the events of the movies, the more you lose willing suspension of disbelief. Seriously, many of these things represent a blatant disregard for physics and common sense. Honestly, I’m amazed.
Yet, at the same time, the movie is actually really good. If you pretend these things are possible, then this movie is actually great. Suspense, characterization, all of it are great. Its fantastic.
I’m just left wondering now, how Spielberg could have not noticed this stuff. Why didn’t he realize that a heat ray, when shot at a person would set fire to their clothes? Why do the clothes fly up, intact, but dust-covered after a person is heat-rayed? How does that make any sense?
Also, the movie’s ending felt kind of truncated. This was a little disapointing, but the movie really was fairly good. I enjoyed it at least.
Cinderella Man
This movie was good. I don’t think I have much to say about it, but here goes. I really like cinematic romanticization of boxing, especially the parts where a guy is seriously injured and still fighting. Those scenes always amaze me. This film was really about that all around. It was seriously an excellent picture and the climax was tense and exciting.
